Why YOU should come to OktoberFAST this year
August 20th, 2015 by admin
I don’t know about anyone else, but for me 2015 has been the year that was running late. Winter (and snow) stuck around for longer than anyone wanted it. Summer took it’s own sweet time arriving, with hot weather waiting until August to debut.
In keeping with this seemingly revised schedule, our annual OktoberFAST celebration has been moved back a bit, to October 10. The National BMWCCA is actually hosting OctoberFest in New Jersey during the week of September 21-27, and we didn’t want anyone to have to choose which event to attend that week.
The change of date also meant that it didn’t make as much sense to host the event in West Dover. That venue had been chosen to coordinate our O’FAST with the Independent TV and Film Festival. We always want to offer something for everyone, especially those attendees who don’t necessarily want to spend the entire day enjoying cars.
Thanks to member Ron Crawford, we were able to secure the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum grounds at Basin Harbor Club in Vergennes, VT. The site is gorgeous and because it is somewhat sheltered we are hopeful that there might still be a few colorful leaves on the trees. In addition to all of the fantastic amenities and activities that they usually have, “Harborween” will be taking place all weekend at Basin Harbor Club because they will be closed for the season by October 31. This promises to provide lots of extra entertainment for all, since there are special Halloween activities on the premises. The LCMM has also offered a discounted admission rate for all of our OktoberFAST attendees. Please visit www.lcmm.org to see what’s currently on display.
We have a block of 5 rooms being held at special rates at the Basin Harbor Club. you can contact them directly (www.basinharbor.com) or by phone to book. Hurry, though, as these rooms will only be held for our group until September 25. Tell them you are with the BMW Car Club. We also have a group rate at the Marriott Courtyard in Middlebury, for a block of 10 rooms. Once again, please contact the hotel directly (800)388-7775 and tell them you’re with the BMW Car Club. Their cutoff date is even sooner, September 9!
On Friday we’ll kick off the festivities with a Meet & Greet in the Ranger Room at Basin Harbor Club. There will be a cash bar and very light snacks from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Please make alternate dinner plans, as this part of the resort will already have the kitchen shut down for the season. There are 2 restaurants on site, but call to find out if you’ll need reservations.
Saturday is our annual OktoberFAST Show & Shine event, from 8:00 am until @ 3:30 pm. We are excited to once again have goody bags and a silent auction. I expect to sees some interesting characters, with “Harborween” in full swing.
Bring along comfy lawn chairs and a picnic lunch. Invite your German car driving friends. We invite all German marques to come out and play: BMW, Porsche, Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen and even MINI. Old cars, new cars, stock or modified. We want to see them!

I know there’s a lot of information here, and I still feel like I’m forgetting something. It’s all part of that feeling of lateness, that I need to tell you everything yesterday!
